In all my work I seek to encourage the viewer to look closer, to appreciate the sometimes everyday and overlooked and to find joy in the natural world that we are part of.  My buzzard is created from layers of lace, velvet and free motion embroidery and sits on an eco-printed background. I’m interested in how we are connected to the natural world and the lives we share it with. All my work starts with observation, then drawing before I develop ideas in textiles. Buzzards are one of our most regularly seen birds of prey and are highly adaptable. They always seems to be keeping a watchful eye, looking for opportunities. They are an often under appreciated bird I think; perhaps because we see them so often so regard them as common and not of great interest.
